  • National Music Festival Underway In Chestertown

    This year’s edition of the National Music Festival is underway and runs through June 13, bringing together almost 30 mentors and 100 promising apprentices, presenting more than 30 events ranging from majestic symphonies to intimate chamber music, pre-concert talks and master classes, plus dozens of free open rehearsals. The Evening Enterprise reports mentors are professional musicians who teach and perform all over the country and the world; apprentices are young professional musicians on the cusp of their careers.

  • Former Washington College Student Jailed In Phone Threat Case

    A former Washington College student whose phone call to police here in January led to a shelter-in-place order at the college served nine days in jail following his sentencing earlier this month.Grafton Steele Howard, 26, of Chesapeake City was convicted of two misdemeanors related to disturbing school operations at his trial in the District Court of Kent County on March 9.He was found not guilty of the more serious crime of threatening mass violence. According to the Evening Enterprise, Judge John E. Nunn III sentenced Howard to six months in the Kent County Detention Center for each count of disturbing school operations, with the sentences to be served concurrently.

  • Greensboro Police Chief Resigns

    Since the Town of Greensboro announced that Greensboro’s Chief of Police, Lenox Trams, resigned, community members have voiced concerns on social media about the future of public safety and municipal government in Greensboro. Caroline Review reports in a Facebook post, the Town of Greensboro said, “The Mayor and Council are announcing the resignation of Greensboro Chief Lenox Trams. We thank Lenox for his service and dedication to the Town of Greensboro and wish him luck in all of his future endeavors. " The Town then posted job listings for both the Chief of Police and a part-time administrative staff member for the Greensboro PD on Facebook on May 24.The announcement drew disappointment and questions from community members, many voicing their intent to speak at the Town of Greensboro's June 4 Town Council meeting.

  • Queenstown Woman Arrested In Stabbing Incident

    The Queen Anne’s County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a Queenstown woman in connection with a stabbing that injured one. WMDT reports deputies arrested 36-year-old Lauren Fuller on charges of first and second degree assault, as well as reckless endangerment. According to court documents obtained by WMDT, she is being held without bond pending a preliminary hearing in mid-June.On May 18 at 11:49 a.m., deputies were dispatched to the University of Maryland Shore Emergency Center for a patient with suspicious injuries. Upon arrival, deputies learned the patient was suffering from a stab wound. The victim was transported to Shock Trauma with non-life-threatening injuries.

  • 2026 Rock Hall Triathlon

    The 2026 Rock Hall Triathlon will be take place this weekend, May 30 and 31, in the Rock Hall area. Motorists should expect a large amount of cyclists on Route 20, Route 298, Route 445, as well as numerous county roads throughout southern Kent County. According to the Kent County News, officials urge drivers to use caution and allow extra time both Saturday and Sunday morning. Deputies will be at many intersections to assist with traffic control.
